About Sara

Meet Sara !! This sweet small little lady was part of a large hoarding situation. She has come a long way in a short time and is embracing the good life! She is ready to find a real family of her own. Sara is an approx. 6 year old female and appears to be a Chihuahua mix. She currently weighs 10.7 pounds and is full grown. She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines as part of her adoption. She is heartworm negative and on preventatives. This sweet girl came to us so scared and shy but she has quickly decided that her new life is not so scary. She is turning into a fun happy dog. She is also doing very well with all of her training. Sara has been around other dogs of all sizes. She seems to want to run and play with them but if they start barking she gets scared. That will likely pass as she becomes more settled. We are unsure how she would do with cats. She has not been fostered with kids but met a few and did fine. She will need to be with kids that dont treat her like a toy and give her some time to warm up to them. She has been doing really well with her potty training. She has no accidents in her crate and will alert you when she needs to go out. She has done great with car rides and does well on the leash. She is crate trained but can be vocal when she needs to potty or thinks she is missing out on some fun going on in the house. Sara has a medium energy level so far. She has some spunky moments and has a playful side. She also likes to lay on the couch and relax. She is a good mix of fun and relaxed. She has had no trouble sharing food, treats or toys with other humans. She has growled at other dogs around her food bowl. That is not uncommon when dogs come from hoarding situations with limited food. It may go away and it may not. Feeding her separate from other dogs is an easy solution. She was very well behaved for the vet. She has also done well with nail trims and baths. Her foster family says; Sara is extremely loving and fun. With a safe place and a routine she is going to make someone a perfect dog. She is definitely not your typical scared chihuahua.
