TORTUGA HAS A LOT TO LOVE ABOUT HER! Looking for a fun, affectionate companion who's happy to play but also enjoys simply being near you? Meet Tortuga! This petite, 45-pound sweetheart recently spent a few days in a volunteer foster home, and we got to learn even more about what makes her special. Housebroken and doing great! Her foster reported no accidents, even over extended periods of time. That's a big plus for a young dog! A nice walking partner! She walks well on a leash and, when another dog barked at her, she simply looked around rather than making a fuss. A toy enthusiast! Tortuga loves her toys and enjoys a good play session. She had fun with both soft, squeaky toys and a tougher alligator toy, showing that she knows how to enjoy her playthings without tearing them apart. A people-loving girl! Whether she was playing or simply relaxing nearby, Tortuga enjoyed being close to her person. She may get a little enthusiastic when asking for attention, but she responds well to verbal reminders. A quick learner! Her foster worked with her on sitting and waiting patiently for her food bowl, and she caught on to the routine. Tortuga is a bright young girl who can learn new things with consistency and encouragement. One important note: Tortuga needs a cat-free home, so she'll be happiest with a family where there are no feline housemates. Tortuga is still young, estimated to be between 6 months and 2 years old, so she's got plenty of time for learning, exploring and sharing adventures with her new family.
