Sonya is a 6-year-old, approximately 55 lb spayed female Australian Cattle Dog looking for a loving, experienced home. She's an incredibly affectionate girl who loves pets, belly rubs, and playing fetch. At home, she's generally calm and spends much of her day relaxing. She's house-trained, knows basic commands, does well being left alone, and has lived peacefully with our two indoor cats. Sonya's biggest challenges are anxiety and reactivity. She's easily triggered by bicycles, squirrels, other dogs, delivery people, and loud noises. She pulls on walks and can become very vocal and worked up. She's been on Prozac and gabapentin for several years but still requires patience and consistent management. She's very loving with adults once she gets to know them, but due to food guarding and warning behavior around children, she needs an adult-only home, ideally without other dogs. We're rehoming Sonya because our family with young children can no longer provide the environment and attention she needs. We're looking for someone experienced with reactive dogs, preferably herding breeds, who has the time, patience, and willingness to work with her. She's a sweet, loving dog who needs the right person to help her thrive. We're not in a rush and want to find her the best possible home. %9D%A4%8F
