About Winnie

Winnie is a very sweet, loving dog who unfortunately came to us without us realizing just how strong her natural prey drive is. She is incredibly smart, affectionate, and happiest when she has a job, plenty of time outdoors, and a person she can stay close to. She is wonderful with adults and children and has never shown aggression toward people. She loves being with her person, going for rides, spending time outside, and being involved in whatever you are doing. Winnie does, however, need a very specific home. She has a very strong prey drive and would thrive with an experienced hunter or skilled dog handler who understands how to give a working dog an appropriate outlet. She is dominant with other animals and cannot be trusted around small animals or allowed to roam freely. She is also extremely smart and athletic, which means she needs someone who can provide consistent training, structure, exercise, and a job to do. She has significant separation anxiety and can break out of crates, so a secure and knowledgeable home is essential. Winnie is also a flight risk. If she gets an opportunity to get out of the house or yard, she will run, so secure fencing and careful management are a must. This is not an easy 'any home' dog-but we truly believe the right person could bring out the best in her. She has so much love to give and would be happiest with someone who understands working dogs and can give her the purpose and structure she needs. Best fit: An experienced hunter, working-dog owner, or skilled trainer with secure fencing, no small animals, and the time and knowledge to work with a high-drive dog. Winnie isn't looking for just any home. She's looking for her person.
