About Teddy

Adoption Fee: $75
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

We got Teddy when she was nine weeks old. We lived in a condo so she was almost always on a leash. We would take her to the dog park and she was so fast. No dogs could catch her but she loved to be chased. She walked in a parade, went hiking, went on the slide at the elementary school and loved all people! We got a cat when she was about 8 months old and they were fast friends who even slept together for a couple years. Then they got in a fight and that was it. They just coexisted. Life moved on. We had a baby and Teddy pretty much ignored her. When our child became a toddler Teddy got interested and they played together every day. A year ago we got another dog. At first Teddy wasn't interested, but they became friends. They would eat out of the same bowl at the same time. Teddy would chew on her pizzle stick and the little dog would lick the other end. Teddy would retrieve balls and the little would try to keep up. Just in the last two months they had been playing every morning where they would wrestle for a period of time before they napped. On Oct first Teddy attacked the little dog for a treat and darn near killed her. So hear we are in the horrible position of having to decide what to do. Teddy loves to lay on laps, but at bed time she will sleep alone at the foot of the bed or in her bed. We feed her twice a day. She loves chewing toys. She eats fish flavored food because she seems to do better with allergies and ear infections with that food. She's up to date on shots and on heart worm preventative. She had a physical after the attack and she is healthy. Maybe she is just falling back on her doggy instincts. I'm not an expert, but I would say no animals smaller than her and no kids under 12 or so. She needs a fence or a constant leash. We have never been able to train her to not run. She comes back when she gets tired. She's good on car rides and has stayed in multiple hotels with us. When we come home she sits and patiently waits with her little tail nub just about to shake off. She is spayed. She got her teeth cleaned and a fatty tumor removed from her neck in February. She healed up great. She's not a fan of hot weather, but loves playing in the snow. She's used to being groomed and they say she's a good girl. She MUST BE GROOMED so please consider that's around $100 every six weeks or so. She really is a wonderful companion and my heart hurts. We are looking for a forever home for our sweet girls that doesn't have any cats or animals under 40 pounds. I prefer to be contacted by email or text thank you.
