Meet Athena Jane! ��%90%BE Location: Kyle, TX DOB: 7/31/2024 Athena is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being close to her people. This playful, treat-motivated lady is happiest when she can be near her favorite humans, whether that means joining them for a walk, soaking up belly rubs, or curling up on the couch with her head resting on their legs. Athena has moderate energy and enjoys getting outside for a walk, but she's just as happy spending the rest of the day relaxing in the backyard or lounging around the house. She's a professional snuggler, an enthusiastic treat enthusiast (bully sticks are a particular favorite!), and even has a little happy grumble when she's enjoying belly rubs. She also happens to be a bit of a snorer! Athena is housebroken and is continuing to work on her basic manners and leash skills. She's a good passenger in the car, although she may get a little whiny along the way. She can be vocal when first crated but typically settles down quickly. She is still learning to feel comfortable when separated from her people and may try to escape when left confined, so she'll need a patient home willing to help her build confidence and independence gradually. She would likely do best with people who are home more often than not. What about other pets? Athena currently lives with a small female dog and is doing well with a smaller, confident canine companion. Introductions with a much larger male dog are still a work in progress, as she seems a little nervous around him. She also lives with a cat and is curious but not aggressive. A confident, dog-savvy cat may be a good match. Her compatibility with children is currently unknown. Her ideal home Athena would love a home where she can be someone's shadow and enjoy plenty of companionship. A family with people around more often, a cozy couch, a backyard, and lots of tasty treats would make her day! A confident, smaller female dog may also help her continue building confidence. She'll need a family who understands that trust takes time and is willing to continue helping her learn that the world and the people in it can be good. A few things to know: Athena is heartworm positive, is not yet spayed, and has happy tail. She will need continued veterinary care and a family prepared to support her medical needs. Athena has so much love to give.
