Who wouldn't want a dog named Happy? Happy is a 3-year-old, 58-pound Mountain Cur mix with a big heart and plenty of young-dog energy. He's handsome, athletic, affectionate, smart, playful, and loyal, with a great off-switch when the fun is over. He's looking for an active adopter: a runner, a power walker, or someone with time to play with him a few times a day. Happy absolutely loves zooming around the fenced yard at my foster home - and a 5-foot fence would be ideal for him. Give Happy a good run, a long walk, or a game of fetch, and he'll happily nap beside you while you work or stretch out next to you for a night of TV. He's fully housebroken, walks nicely on leash, and knows sit, stay, come, leave it, and down/off. He's food motivated and eager to keep learning. And he has come SO far. When Happy first arrived from the shelter, he needed time to learn that people could be trusted. After nearly nine months in foster care, he's a confident, easygoing guy who even charmed another foster family (and a new dog buddy) during a short stay. Happy lives with two other dogs and enjoys canine company, but he'd be just as happy as your one-and-only. He thinks squirrels and rabbits are highly suspicious, so a cat-free home is best. When he's excited, he sometimes jumps up or gets a little mouthy in play. For that reason, he'd do best with dog savvy kids 8+ or teens. He doesn't need a fancy life. He just wants his people: someone to take him on adventures, toss the ball, scratch his ears, and tell him he's a good boy. And hand out some treats. If your idea of the perfect dog is part adventure buddy, part comedian, part couch companion, and 100% loyal best friend, Happy would love to meet you.
