LUCILLE - A GENTLE SOUL, A SECOND CHANCE, AND A HEART FULL OF LOVE: 10-Year-Old Siberian Husky. Female (spayed). 58.45 lbs. Friends of Upland Animal Shelter - Upland, California. Animal ID: IEPA-A-18761. Intake Date: March 15, 2026. Currently in a Foster Home. Some dogs have a way of touching your heart without doing anything extraordinary. They simply look at you with gentle eyes, accept your kindness, and remind you what unconditional love really means. Lucille is one of those dogs. A DIFFICULT PAST, BUT NEVER A BITTER HEART: When Lucille first arrived at the shelter, she had suffered severe neglect. Her beautiful Husky coat was in such terrible condition that it had to be completely shaved. Underneath all that neglected fur was a painfully underweight dog who had clearly endured far more than she ever deserved. But something about Lucille was remarkable. Despite everything she had been through, she was still sweet. Still gentle. Still trusting. Still willing to love. There was no bitterness in her heart, only an extraordinary capacity for affection. And that beautiful spirit has never changed. A SECOND CHANCE AT HAPPINESS: Thanks to the dedication and love of her wonderful foster family, Lucille has made an incredible recovery. She has regained her health, her beautiful coat has grown back, and she has discovered the simple happiness of being safe, comfortable, and loved. Today, Lucille is a calm, affectionate senior lady who enjoys a peaceful routine, gentle companionship, and the little pleasures that make life wonderful. She doesn't need grand adventures. She just wants to be near people who care about her. And in return, she has so much love to give. WHAT MAKES LUCILLE SO SPECIAL? Lucille is one of those rare dogs whose gentle presence can make an ordinary day feel a little more beautiful. She is: Calm, sweet, friendly, and affectionate. Potty trained and comfortable with household routines. Quiet and rarely barks, although she may become vocal when it's mealtime! Wonderful on leash and enjoys two leisurely walks a day, approximately 10 minutes each. Very friendly toward people and enjoys human companionship. Reportedly good with cats in her foster home. A beloved favorite among shelter volunteers. A LITTLE EXTRA CARE FOR A VERY SPECIAL LADY: At approximately 10 years old, Lucille has earned the right to enjoy life at her own pace. She has arthritis affecting her back left leg and takes medication and joint supplements to help keep her comfortable. Despite this, she walks well and enjoys her short daily outings. Her ideal family will understand the needs of a senior dog and provide the appropriate veterinary care, gentle exercise, a comfortable place to rest, and plenty of affection. Lucille doesn't need someone to keep her constantly entertained. She needs someone who will simply be there. THE FOREVER HOME SHE DESERVES: Imagine coming home to a sweet, gentle Husky who is happy just because you walked through the door. A companion who doesn't demand much, who appreciates a quiet afternoon, and who would be perfectly content sharing life's simple moments with you. That is Lucille. She would thrive in a calm, loving household with someone who appreciates the special beauty of senior dogs. A soft bed. A peaceful home. A couple of short walks. Good meals. Gentle hands. And someone who will love her for the rest of her life. After everything she has experienced, that doesn't seem like too much to ask. WILL YOU BE LUCILLE'S FOREVER PERSON? Lucille has already survived the hardest chapter of her story. She has known neglect. She has known discomfort. But she has also discovered kindness, safety, and love. Now she is ready for something even more wonderful: a permanent home and a family of her own. Please don't let her age discourage you. Senior dogs have a special kind of magic. They remind us to slow down, appreciate the present, and recognize that love isn't measured by how many years we have together, but by how deeply we share them. Lucille doesn't need someone to rescue her from her past anymore. She needs someone to share her future. And perhaps the most beautiful part of her story is still waiting to be written. ADOPT LUCILLE - BECAUSE EVERY DOG DESERVES TO KNOW WHAT FOREVER FEELS LIKE. Lucille is currently living in a foster home through Friends of Upland Animal Shelter in Upland, California. Please contact the shelter to learn more about Lucille and arrange a meeting with this extraordinary girl.
