About OSO

BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1. Name: Oso Age: 3 years Breed: Pitbull/German Shepherd mix, 50 pounds Sex: Male (not neutered) Location: San Joaquin County, California Vet Info: Oso is not current with his vaccinations or a recent HW test. Oso is neutered. Owner states that Oso has gradually gone blind about a year ago. From the owner's description it sounds like Oso possibly could have been born with juvenile cataracts but an exam by a vet would be required to confirm. Oso does not have a microchip. Oso appears to be in good general health. He has never had any other health issues. Dog Info: Oso is living with the owner's parents who are relocating and Oso will need a new home. Oso is an outdoor dog that the owner has had since he was a puppy. He is not housebroken but he is leash trained. He knows the commands, sit and lay down but has not had any formal obedience training. Oso is an outgoing boy that is good with men, women and children of all ages. He has spent a lot of time with younger children, knows not to jump on them but since he has gone blind, he may bump into them and knock smaller children over. Oso is good with female dogs and cats. Oso has shown some resource guarding so should be fed separately from other dogs. Oso has only had an issue with male dogs when the male dog was in Oso's domain. Any male introductions will need to be gradual and supervised. Oso is very affectionate with people. Owner very much does not want to see Oso end up in a shelter and is willing to help with transportation and supplies to make it an easy transition. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them. These dogs are with their owners and are not in BDRA foster homes. We do our best to screen these dogs, but make no guarantees regarding the information posted.** Please email [email protected] if you are interested in this sweetheart. Please know that we will ask for a vet reference.
