About Bernard

Bernard is a 2-year-old, 40-pound pit bull mix who is incredibly intelligent, devoted, and eager to please his people. He has completed extensive professional training, including a three-week board-and-train program, and knows commands such as sit, down, place, stay, come, and leave it. While Bernard has made significant progress through rehabilitation and consistent training, he can still be reactive and needs an experienced owner who understands his behavioral needs. Due to his history of reactivity and two bite incidents involving unfamiliar people, Bernard needs a structured, predictable home with someone experienced in managing dogs with a bite history. He must be the only dog in the household and cannot live with children or other pets. Once Bernard bonds with his person, he is incredibly affectionate, loyal, and loving, and he thrives when given clear boundaries, consistent routines, and positive reinforcement. He deserves a knowledgeable, committed owner who will continue his training and give him the opportunity to thrive in a safe, loving forever home.
