About Oakley

Oakley is a beautiful 18-month-old purebred German shepherd but don't have the AKC paperwork. She is very anxious and fearful around people and it takes a minute to have her take to another dog. We do have another dog in the household and she's just fine with her. She is up to date on all of her vaccinations. From the history that we got when we adopted her, we were told that she was kept in a kennel for 12 hours a day as a puppy and was not very socialized. She would need to go to a home that would be able to work with her and train her. She's too much for our household but she is a beautiful, very smart and high energy dog. She loves to play catch. We also have what's known as a flirt pole that she absolutely loves. We're trying to work on recall with her but that hasn't worked that much yet. As we live in a wooded area, it's kind of difficult. She's pretty good on a leash, only pulls a little bit. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me. We don't want to get rid of her, but it's hard with her being reactive to some of the people that enter our house. We've looked into a trainer for her but have not begun the training yet. I can give you the name of the trainer that we were going to use if interested. We will only adopt her out if you have a lot of experience with German Shepherds or reactive and anxious dogs.
