Meet Jolene Googly Bear! Location: Georgetown, TX (Transport Available) Age: 1 Year Breed: Great Dane (Double Merle) Weight: Approximately 125 lbs Gender: Female Special Needs: Deaf, with one eye Spay Status: Being scheduled Meet Jolene Googly Bear, a beautiful, goofy, affectionate Great Dane with a personality as big as her paws and a heart that's even bigger! At just one year old and 125 pounds, Jolene is still very much a puppy! She's playful, energetic, incredibly loving, and absolutely convinced she's small enough to be a lap dog. Nobody has had the heart to tell her otherwise! Jolene is a double-merle Great Dane who is deaf and was born with an eye defect that required surgical removal of one eye. She has recovered beautifully, her surgical site is completely healed, and she sees well with her remaining eye. Her differences certainly don't slow her down! Personality & Favorite Things Jolene is a social butterfly who loves everyone she meets! She's incredibly affectionate and happiest when she's with her people. Whether she's snuggling on the couch, climbing into your lap, or following you around the house, Jolene wants to be part of everything you do. She's also a toy enthusiast who loves tennis balls, soccer balls, playing fetch, and going for walks. She's quite clever, too! Jolene has figured out how to open doors with lever-style handles, so her future family may need to stay one step ahead of this smart girl! Training & Home Life Jolene has made wonderful progress in her current home, but as a young giant-breed dog, she still has plenty to learn. House-Trained: Fully house-trained with no accidents in over a month! Leash Training: Walks well using a Gentle Leader. Crate Training: Still a work in progress. Basic Manners: Continuing to learn boundaries and manage her excitement. Deaf Dog Training: Will benefit from hand signals, visual cues, and positive reinforcement. Counter Surfing: Jolene loves investigating countertops, so keep those snacks out of reach! Spay Status: Her spay procedure is being scheduled. Jolene is intelligent, eager to engage with her people, and has wonderful potential with consistent training and patience. Other Dogs, Cats & Children Jolene loves other dogs, but her enthusiasm sometimes gets the better of her! She currently lives with smaller dogs, including a Chihuahua, as well as senior canine companions. Unfortunately, her energetic play style can be overwhelming for them. At 125 pounds, she can accidentally knock smaller dogs over without realizing it. Jolene isn't intentionally aggressive; she's simply a rambunctious giant puppy who hasn't learned how big and strong she really is! We believe she would thrive with a younger, playful, large-breed dog who can match her energy and enjoy her enthusiastic play style. She has also done well around cats. Because of her size and excitement, Jolene would do best in a home without elderly or physically vulnerable family members. Her experience with young children is limited, so adults or older, dog-savvy children would be preferable. Jolene's Perfect Forever Home Jolene needs a family who understands that beneath her impressive size is a young dog still learning about the world. Her ideal home would offer: Experience with Great Danes or other giant breeds. An understanding of deaf dogs or a willingness to learn. Patience, structure, and continued positive reinforcement training. Plenty of exercise, enrichment, and playtime. A family physically capable of managing an energetic 125-pound dog. Ideally, a compatible younger, large-breed canine companion. Lots of affection, cuddles, and room for one very large lap dog! Why Is Jolene Looking for a New Home? Jolene's current family welcomed her into their home to prevent her from ending up in a shelter. They've provided love, medical care, surgery, and training, doing everything possible to give her a wonderful life. Unfortunately, their household includes senior dogs and elderly family members who cannot safely manage Jolene's size and exuberant puppy energy. Her rambunctious behavior has resulted in accidental injuries, making it clear that she needs a different environment. Her family loves her dearly and wants nothing more than to see her happy, safe, and thriving in a home better suited to her needs. Could Jolene Googly Bear Be Your Perfect Match? Jolene doesn't need anyone to feel sorry for her because she's deaf or has one eye. She doesn't see herself as different, and neither should you! She's a happy, affectionate, toy-loving, adventure-seeking Great Dane with so much love to give. She simply needs someone who understands her youthful enthusiasm and is ready to help her become the incredible companion we know she can be. If you're looking for a goofy, affectionate best friend who loves tennis balls, gives incredible cuddles, and believes she's a 125-pound lap dog, Jolene Googly Bear might just be your girl!
