About Grizzly

Adoption Fee: $100
Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Grizzly is a very kind, gentle, and energetic 2 year old brown labrador. He has all of the energy you would expect from a young male. He is neutered, and he is good around our kids. Grizzly is also best friends with our other dog, a one-year-old St. Bernard. Grizzly is a very friendly and respectful dog, but he really wants to be inside the house with the family. We have four young children, and my wife will give birth to our fifth in January, and so we cannot have Grizzly inside right now. Grizzly is very frustrated at this arrangement, (and has been so for six months), and would greatly prefer to be inside with us. He is also very intelligent, and will open gates and sliding doors in order to get inside to the family he loves. This is becoming a challenge for us, and we have made the difficult decision to find him a new home. The ideal home for Grizzly would be one where he can lay inside on a dog bed all day and be pet occasionally. As long as he is inside, he is happy as a clam. He also has a keen nose for hunting. He would be a top-tier hunting companion, because when he sees small animals, he goes into hunter mode. He loves hunting my neighbors chickens, which my neighbor does not like at all. Fortunately, he does come to me when I go over there to retrieve him. We are not hunters, so his skill is wasted on my family. We have 2 cats and he is not violent towards them. Of course, he is still young, and does not really understand cats yet, and tries to play with them rougher than they would like, so they swat at him and run away, but he has never hurt them. Truly, he is a different animal when he is allowed to just lie on a dog bed in the house. As long as he is part of the family, he is very docile. When he is kept outside (even with another dog to play with) he gets frustrated and works constantly to get back inside. So, if you are looking for a dog that will spend most of his time outside, this is probably not a good fit for you. Unfortunately we are not in a position to be what he needs right now, but maybe you are! The adoption fee is $100.00, but it does not go to me, you pay it to rescueme.org. We are just trying to find a good, loving home for this energetic, loving boy. We love Grizzly, and whoever adopts him can rest assured that if it doesn't work out, we will always take him back. We are in Sandpoint, ID.
