This is an incredibly difficult decision for our family, and we are heartbroken that we have reached a point where rehoming Jagger is necessary. Jagger has been my a companion for nearly his entire life. He spent many traveling throughout the country with his owner by his side. They have been inseparable. Unfortunately, the owner's health has declined significantly, and he recently had to move in with family. He is now on oxygen, uses a walker, and has very limited mobility. Jagger is extremely bonded and protective of him, and he has struggled with the transition to a busy household with other dogs. We have made every effort to keep Jagger separated from our dogs, but because of mobility and memory limitations, there have been a few accidental encounters when a door or gate was left open. These incidents have resulted in the owner being injured multiple times and requiring medical treatment. the owner's health has continued to decline, and we are increasingly concerned that another incident could have serious consequences. At the same time, we have a toddler and a baby who just started crawling, along with our own dogs: a 1-year-old German Shepherd and two dachshunds. Keeping everyone safely separated has become extremely difficult. We love Jagger, but we have come to recognize that this home is no longer the right environment for him. He deserves more than constant separation and management, and our family needs a living situation where everyone can safely coexist. We are urgently asking for help. We are hoping to find Jagger a calm home, foster situation, or rescue placement where he can receive the one-on-one attention, consistency, and patience that an older dog deserves. Ideally, he would be somewhere without small children and without other dogs competing for his attention, where his bond with his person can be an asset rather than a source of conflict. We want to be completely responsible and transparent about Jagger's history and his needs so that the right placement can be found. We are happy to provide his veterinary records, medications/supplements, routines, personality information, and anything else that would help a rescue or experienced adopter understand him.
