About KATANA

KATANA is a 5-year-old, 24 pound Feist mix who is no stranger to us. She was originally adopted from us as a puppy but was returned when the family moved somewhere they couldn't take her. She was adopted again by a wonderful lady who recently had to move into an assisted living facility and could only take one of her two dogs. She made the difficult decision to keep her senior dog, who had been with her the longest, and we completely understand and support that choice. As heartbreaking as the decision was, she knew KATANA had a safe place to land with us. KATANA is a super easygoing, affectionate girl who warms up quickly and loves giving kisses! She may bark when someone new comes to the door, but she settles down quickly. She's playful without being overly energetic and enjoys toys, walks, and chasing squirrels in the yard. She loves being around her people and is just as happy snuggling up as she is having a little fun. KATANA enjoys the company of other dogs and gets along well with dogs her size and larger dogs with calmer temperaments. She prefers having her people or a canine companion outside with her rather than spending time alone. KATANA has never been an only dog, and we don't believe she would be happy without a canine companion, so another calm, compatible dog in the home is required. If there are children in the home, she would do best with older kids who are familiar with dogs. We're unsure how she would do living with cats. With regular outside time and walks, KATANA hasn't had a single accident in her foster home. She walks well on a leash, and while a fenced yard is preferred, it would not be a requirement for the right home. She does have a mischievous side when it comes to food and may help herself if something tempting is left too close to the edge of the table! At bedtime, she's happy to curl up beside her person or settle into a dog bed nearby. KATANA is a sweet, loving, well-mannered girl who has experienced some unexpected changes in her life through no fault of her own. She's been fortunate to know love, and we're hoping to find her another wonderful family where she can settle in and enjoy many happy years ahead! KATANA is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a Proheart12 heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola).
