ZOEY - A BEAUTIFUL MIND, A LOVING HEART, AND A HOME STILL TO FIND. 2-Year-Old German Shepherd. Female. 68.2 lbs. Location: Friends of Upland Animal Shelter - Upland, California. Animal ID: IEPA-A-20327. Intake Date: October 3, 2026. MEET ZOEY! Beautiful, intelligent, confident, and affectionate - Zoey is a 2-year-old German Shepherd with so much to offer the right person. With her curious mind, alert expression, and unmistakable Shepherd personality, Zoey is the kind of dog who wants to be involved in the world around her. She loves exploring, investigating interesting scents, and observing everything happening nearby. But behind that attentive, confident exterior is also a sweet girl who enjoys affection and attention from her human companions. A SMART GIRL WITH SO MUCH POTENTIAL: Zoey already knows some basic commands and is eager to learn. She walks nicely on leash in calmer environments and would benefit from continued training, positive reinforcement, and consistent guidance. Like many German Shepherds, Zoey needs more than just a place to sleep. She needs opportunities to exercise her body, engage her mind, and build a trusting relationship with someone who understands her breed. With patience, structure, and meaningful activities, Zoey has the potential to become a wonderful companion. UNDERSTANDING ZOEY'S NEEDS: Zoey has a strong prey drive and can become highly excited and reactive around other animals, particularly smaller ones. For this reason, Zoey needs a home without cats or small animals. She has not yet been formally tested with other dogs, so her compatibility with canine companions remains unknown. A prospective adopter should be prepared to manage her reactions around other animals and continue working on her leash manners. Zoey would be especially well suited to someone familiar with German Shepherds who understands the importance of training, responsible handling, and providing appropriate physical and mental stimulation. THE HOME ZOEY IS HOPING FOR: Zoey is looking for an active, committed adopter who will appreciate both her intelligence and her affectionate nature. Her ideal person will recognize that a wonderful dog doesn't have to arrive perfectly trained. Sometimes the most rewarding relationships are built through patience, understanding, and learning together. Zoey doesn't need someone who expects perfection. She needs someone who sees her potential and is willing to help her become the best version of herself. GIVE ZOEY THE CHANCE SHE DESERVES: At just two years old, Zoey has so much life ahead of her - adventures to experience, things to learn, and affection to share. She is ready for someone who will look beyond her challenges and recognize the intelligent, loving companion waiting underneath. Zoey already has the heart of a loyal companion. Now she needs someone willing to earn her trust, guide her journey, and give her a place to belong. If you have experience with German Shepherds and believe you could offer Zoey the loving, structured home she deserves, please contact Friends of Upland Animal Shelter in Upland, California.
