Meet Tater Tot %BD%9D%A4%BD%BD%8F Tater Tot is a 3-year-old neutered male Corgi looking for a patient, experienced home that can accommodate his significant anxiety and behavioral needs. He is affectionate, playful, and loves spending time outside. He has a loving side when he feels safe and comfortable, and I want to find him a home where his needs are understood and he can have the best quality of life possible. This is a very difficult decision, but I recognize that his needs are more than I can sustainably manage. I'm not in a rush and want to prioritize the right placement over a quick rehoming. Important: Please read about his needs before inquiring. Tater Tot experiences significant anxiety, fearfulness, and reactivity. He is frightened of unfamiliar people and visitors, is very fearful of children, and barks at them. Loud noises are also a major trigger. He struggles with separation anxiety and cannot reliably be left alone without the risk of a potty accident. When stressed, he may also become destructive or have difficulty settling down. He has resource-guarding behavior and a known bite history involving food or valued items. He does not like having things taken away from him and has bitten in these situations. He has also snapped or lunged without making contact in other circumstances. This behavior must be taken seriously, and his future caregiver will need to understand safe management of resource guarding. His ideal home: An adult-only household with no children. An experienced caregiver familiar with fearful, anxious, or reactive dogs. Someone who can accommodate his difficulty being left alone. A calm, predictable environment with appropriate management of food and valued objects. Someone prepared to work with a qualified, reward-based behavior professional. A careful assessment before introducing him to other animals, as he may be compatible with some but this is not guaranteed. Medical and training history He has received basic training but has not had specialized behavioral training. Gabapentin and Prozac have been tried for his anxiety, with limited improvement. Some vaccinations are due soon, and his available veterinary records can be provided. I'm seeking an adopter who understands that his challenges will require ongoing patience, responsible management, and potentially additional professional support. Please tell me about your experience with anxious or reactive dogs, your household, your daily schedule, and how you would manage his separation anxiety and resource guarding. I will prioritize an appropriate match over a quick placement. A reasonable rehoming fee will apply. My priority is a safe, permanent home with someone who fully understands and can meet his needs. Thank you for taking the time to learn about Tater Tot. %BD%9D%A4%BD%BD%8F
