Thor born on 08/09/26, male Sheepadoodle - part gentle giant, part goofy genius, and 100% ready to be somebody's shadow. Sheepadoodles are famous for one thing above all: they don't just want a home, they want a person. If you're looking for a dog that greets you like you've been at war, follows you room to room, and considers your lap the only correct place to be, this is the breed. The Breed at a Glance Origin: A cross between the Old English Sheepdog (the shaggy, loyal herder) and the Poodle (the whip-smart, low-shedding companion). The result: a dog with the Sheepdog's devotion and the Poodle's brains and trainability. Size: Standard Sheepadoodles run 50-85 lbs and 22-27' tall; minis (Miniature Poodle cross) land around 25-45 lbs. Lifespan: 12-15 years - a long commitment, and worth every one of them. Temperament: Affectionate, social, playful, eager to please, gentle with kids and other pets. These dogs are family dogs by design. Intelligence: Genuinely high. They need a job, a puzzle, or a training game - a bored Sheepadoodle invents its own entertainment, usually involving your shoes. Coat: Wavy to curly, black-and-white (sometimes solid or parti). Important truth: they are low-shedding, not non-shedding. The Poodle doesn't shed; the Sheepdog does. Assume some shedding and some dander. Adopting a young Sheepadoodle means adopting a love an dedicationt, and it's the most rewarding one there is - but go in clear-eyed: 0-4 months: Teething, potty training, and the critical socialization window. Everything is new; everything must be experienced kindly and safely. Crate training and routine start here. 4-12 months: The energy spikes. The coat change hits. The 'teenager' emerges - leash pulling, selective hearing, sudden bravery about the garbage can. Training and daily grooming are non-negotiable right now. 1-2 years: Physically almost grown, mentally still a pup. This is when the dog you've been shaping shows up: the loyal, goofy, tuned-in companion you were building all along. Consistent training here pays off for the next decade. What it costs you: patience, a good vacuum, a groomer on speed dial, and a daily walk even when you don't feel like it. What you get back: a dog that thinks you're the best thing that ever happened. Permanently.
