48 DAYS ON KENNEL ISOLATION with zero enrichment or exercise, now scheduled to die in LESS THAN 48 HRS This is our friend, Primo. He was picked up as a stray in August and kenneled inside out of public view. He's estimated to be about 3 years old. The officer that brought him in noted that Primo appeared to be obedient and he sat and listened to commands. Sadly, Primo caught an upper respiratory infection and didn't see the light of day for almost 50 days. He was recently moved outside earlier this month and finally got to experience brief moments of relief from his kennel. Primo is a smart, affectionate, playful boy. He knows multiple commands and happily did them for treats. He also loved his toys and excitedly romped around the yard with them in his mouth. He was also quite the fan of fetch. He was all about the cuddles and gleefully rolled over onto his back for belly rubs as well! Primo is a GOOD BOY with his human friends. Primo has only been in playgroup 3 times. He's been described as selective. Playgroup handlers noted he is under socialized and insecure around dogs. They said he was very anxious in playgroup. He would be pushy/argumentative with the other dogs at times, and when they would correct him for that, he would seek reassurance from the handler after. He was muzzled during his first 2 playgroups, but they unmuzzled him during his latest playgroup. Now Primo is sALERTEDs for negative kennel behavior noted by staff (barking, lunging, growling through kennel door). He dies on WEDNESDAY 10/21 anytime after 8AM. He is available for foster, adoption, or rescue. Hoping his hero is out there. Primo is waiting at South LA Shelter.
