About Gunner

Adoption Fee: $25
Belgian Malinois mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

It's with great sadness that I am looking for a new home for one of our dogs. His names Gunner and he's about 2yrs old. He is a belgian malinois mix; we have been his sole owner since he was a puppy so this is really difficult. However we live on a farm and he is just not farm dog equipped. He has eaten or killed about 9 of our chickens, 1 turkey and 1 baby kitten. He's a great dog, super loving and energetic, loyal, playful, but needs a ton of training, he jumps, nips, and doesn't mesh well with 2 of our other dogs (1 being one of our livestock guardians and 1 is one of our house pups, both of different genders), he is aggressive towards those 2 but fine with our other dogs. Would be best suited with someone who doesn't have cats, he isn't fond of them. He is crate trained but tries to break out. We have tried a collar and he just gets himself injured with it. We have tried a lead outside and he's broken 3 super strong leads and constantly tangles himself. He is loosing weight fast because he has to be outside due to our other dogs and us having cats, he only eats eat on and off and sometimes refuses. As much as I want to keep him we just cannot, we live on a chicken farm and it's just not feasible. We have tried to over 10 months with him on the farm itself. He plays well though with our younger 2 livestock guardians. We're located in Kempner but willing to meet. I don't want to have to give him away but this was our last resort. I cannot give him to animal shelter as they said they would put him down since he had killed chickens and a cat plus nips and goes at it with other dogs (not all dogs just some). He is not up to date on shots and needs a new rabies vaccine. He is also fixed already. We do have children and he does well with teens and younger kids but is super rambunctious so older than 2 would be best. Please someone help take him, he needs a home as soon as possible we cannot keep him and I don't want the shelter to put him down. Even a foster with someone that's willing to help him find a home that has more time than we do or he will be euthanized.
