About Pabu

Meet Pabu !! Want a dog that silently judges all of your life choices? Maybe you wanted a cat but cant have one. If so, you may be in luck!! We have the guy for you!! Pabu is a Male, approx. 4 year old Shiba Inu. He weighs 25 pounds because he is fat. (Listen, he judges us daily so we aren't sugar coating it!!) He was a bit overly spoiled in his last home but really needs someone willing to help him lose the extra pounds to keep him healthy. He is already neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He is Heartworm negative and on preventatives. Shiba's are just a different breed LOL. If you know, you know! This guy is so much more like a cat than a dog. He is very low key with his needs and is an easy house guest. He really doesnt care what you are doing he has his own agenda and opinions on just lounging around. Pabu is great on car rides and seems to enjoy going out in the car. He does well on the leash but will often cross in front of you a lot. He is better about not doing that if there is another dog on the walk. He is crate trained and only barks in the crate if he needs to go outside or hears someone at the door. He is doing excellent with potty training. He tells you when he needs to go out and has had no accidents. He has done well with all of the other dogs he has met and seems to really love other dogs. He takes a bit longer to get used to larger dogs but he does after a few days. He is much quicker to adjust to smaller dogs. He plays with the other dogs a bit but is not overly playful at all. Pabu is great with cats, he seems to think he is one. One of his favorite activities is to sit along the back of the couch with all the cats and watch the birds outside the window. He has not been fostered with kids but he did well meeting the neighborhood kids. We can tell you that he is 100% not the dog that is going to want your kids grabbing at him and crawling all over him. He is just not that dog. He would likely enjoy older kids that are calmer and not all over him. He is not a dog that likes to be held and touched all the time in general. He has a fairly low energy level. He will play with toys or another dog here and there but not for long. He really just enjoys his walks and car rides and to be left to himself to relax. Again, he is a cat in a dogs body. His favorite activity is keeping the couch company. He's very good at his two tricks, sit and shake. He's very proud of himself every time you request this and he completes it for you. It's pretty adorable. Pabu has not shown any food, toy or treat aggression toward people or other dogs. He is an extremely picky eater and will refuse food for days when he is in a new place. Considering how chubby he is we think his previous owners may have catered to his hunger strikes by providing different foods and treats. That is likely why he still tries it. If you just hold out a few days he will start to eat the food you provide for him. He likes to graze on his food throughout the day. He was a very good boy at the vet. He has been good about listening and generally does what you ask of him. He can be aloof and really does not care much about what people are doing. He likes other dogs more than people or just being by himself doing his own thing. He is a super easy dog as long as you aren't offended that he isn't obsessed with you like some dogs can be. Overall this guy is super easy. He does not require much from his owners. He would mainly just enjoy another dog or even just some cats to hang out with and a few walks here and there. If you have been wanting a dog but cant commit to hours of exercise etc then this guy may be the perfect one. Vet and home checks required Located in Hampton VA.
