About Honey

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE COMPLETING THE APPLICATION. Meet Honey the South African Boerboel! (Breed not available for selection here....) This lovely girl is as sweet as her name, and to be honest, once she is close to her people she will fall in love and stick to you just like honey. Honey at a glance�'�| Good with: Kids (ages 3, 5, 8 and 10), but keep in mind she still has the puppy energy and at times bounces around the house when she wants to play. Prefers a home with: A calm male dog who can match her energy but can continue to build her confidence. Is: House trained, crate trained, loose leash trained and knows basic obedience. Has been: Up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventative, and is spayed. Best described as: Calm, affectionate, loving, but her temperament is not the same as that of a Bullmastiff. A little more about Honey. She is a wonderful dog and once she gets to know you and is comfortable she will melt into your family. It does take a little time for her to adjust so giving her that time and not forcing anything is best. Honey came into the rescue as a stray and there are some things she is still unsure of, so being patient when she is a little nervous or offering treats as a redirection will definitely help move her past her insecurities. She loves daily walks and is wonderful on leash with ZERO pulling. This girl is also super treat motivated and very intelligent so learning new habits or training seems pretty easy for her when you're handing out the snacks. She is a driven girl and very attentive to her people for direction. She's kind of like the police officer of the family, always ready to protect and serve! Pretty typical for her breed and Honey takes her job seriously. She ignores passers-by and other leashed pets while out for a walk, but she is VERY protective of her home and her family and needs some time to getacquainted with new people. Once she falls in love, she's yours for life though. Very loyal and sweet. She doesn't seem to like any little critters she's seen in the yard so she would do best in a home without cats or small animals. Honey is estimated to be about 2 years old and she definitely has the puppy spunk and loves to chase toys and balls in the yard, but will tune it down inside to chill out with the family. She is fully vetted, up to date on vaccines, heart worm negative, microchipped and spayed. Honey would do best in a home, with experienced owners who understand her breed and that do not have a lot of traffic or new visitors she doesn't know as she is pretty protective of her people. Previous, documented history with a guardian breed is a must, so please don't apply if you don't have that level of expertise.
