Who remembers the 2 injured Australian Shepherd brothers found with a broken leg and covered in porcupine quills that I rescued from the mechanic shop last July 2025? Here is an update and huge request for our community to help me help them. %9D%A4%8F PLEASE SHARE - LEFTY & LOYAL NEED A VERY SPECIAL PERSON %9D%A4%8F %8D Canyon Lake, Texas I want to share an important update about two very special brothers, Lefty and Loyal. Some of you may remember their story from August 2025, when I received a call from a local mechanic shop about two beautiful Australian Shepherd brothers who had been living around the property. Both boys were covered in porcupine quills, and one had a broken leg. Several people had tried to help, but these boys were terrified of humans and impossible to catch. Finally, after a great deal of patience and effort, we were able to safely contain them using a large trap and get them to a veterinarian. The porcupine quills were removed, and we were able to get one of the brothers neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm tested. Unfortunately, the veterinarian was unable to take the other brother that day. Since then, these boys have been safely living together at the mechanic shop in a large, gated area where tires were stored. They have been there for over a year. I have gone there every day to feed them. Over the past year, we have watched them slowly begin to trust. They survived the winter with a warm doghouse and straw bedding. They have even reached the point where they will allow people to hand-feed them treats. But nobody has been able to touch them yet. Then yesterday, someone accidentally left their gate open. The boys escaped and spent the day running around Canyon Lake - probably enjoying the freedom they remember from before humans tried to help them. As beautiful as it was to see them running, it was also terrifying. They could be hit by a car. They could encounter another porcupine. They could be injured or disappear. And if Animal Control were to pick them up, their fear of humans could put their lives at serious risk. These boys are not dangerous. They are terrified. And their fear is the result of what humans have done - and failed to do - for them throughout their lives. I cannot give up on them now. %9D%A4%8F WHAT LEFTY & LOYAL NEED I am looking for a very special foster, adopter, rancher, or sanctuary-type situation with: 'ۢ Secure, well-fenced property 'ۢ A large enclosed dog run or safe area where they can remain together 'ۢ Someone willing to be patient and consistent 'ۢ Someone who understands extremely fearful dogs 'ۢ Someone willing to sit with them, hand-feed treats, and slowly build their trust 'ۢ A commitment to keeping them together They are brothers. They are bonded. They have survived everything together. I believe that with the right person, consistency, patience, and daily interaction, these boys can continue making progress. They may eventually become adoptable to the right person. But first, they need time and safety. Keeping them contained in a secure dog run for several months while they become familiar with their new surroundings would give them the opportunity to decompress, feel safe, and begin trusting the person caring for them. And if they never become the kind of dogs who want to live inside a house, then I want to find them a safe place where they can live out their lives together, protected and loved. These boys are actually so much fun to watch. %9D%A4%8F They love running. They love the water. They love being together. There has to be a special rancher, foster, adopter, sanctuary, or animal-loving person out there who will look at these two boys and say: 'I can give them a chance.' Right now, they are safely contained together in a smaller dog run while we work on their next step. The remaining brother is scheduled to be neutered next Tuesday, and once that is completed, both boys will finally be fully vetted. Then they will be ready for the right opportunity. Please don't tell me to simply 'contact another rescue.' I know there are wonderful rescues and sanctuaries doing incredible work, but what I have learned is that many organizations simply do not have the space or resources to take on dogs like Lefty and Loyal. So I am asking our community to help me find the person who can. If you can foster them, adopt them, provide a secure ranch setting, or know of a sanctuary that might be able to help, please reach out. ұ Text Sunni's Animal Missions at 830-237-8588 with your email address for a thorough foster or adoption application. I cannot place these boys with just anyone. Their situation requires a very special commitment, and I will carefully consider every application. Lefty and Loyal have been through enough. They deserve a fighting chance - together. ٪%8F Please SHARE this post. You never know who might see it and have the exact safe place these boys have been waiting for.
