He is a 60-pound, energetic Lab mix who would thrive in an active home with a fenced-in yard and plenty of room to run and play. A sturdy, secure fence is a must, as he can become extremely excited when he sees another dog or person and may try to push through or knock down a fence to get to them. He is coming from a home with five cats, but he tends to chase them, so a home without cats is strongly recommended. He has never shown aggression toward my 1-year-old son, but he generally keeps his distance and prefers not to be around him. For this reason, a home without young children would likely be the best fit for him. He has attended doggy daycare and did well with dogs around his size, but we do not recommend placing him with smaller dogs. He can also be hesitant around men with beards and may choose to keep his distance, although he has not shown aggression toward them. He does not walk well on a leash and will need continued training and patience to learn proper leash manners. A secure yard where he can exercise safely would be especially beneficial while he works on these skills. He is crate-trained and microchipped. He would do best with an active, patient owner who can provide consistent training, plenty of exercise, a secure environment, and a home that suits his personality and needs.
