About Roxy

Meet Roxy, a three-year-old, 16-pound Jack Russell Terrier with a playful spirit and a sweet, affectionate side! She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and available for adoption through Angel Paws Advocates in Tyler, Texas. She is not currently microchipped. Roxy loves toys, treats, and playing with other dogs. She needs a companion dog in her new home to help her feel safe. She does great with small dogs and enjoys calm larger dogs once she has time to warm up. Roxy can be shy with new people, so letting her approach you at her own pace is important. Once comfortable, she happily sits beside you, sometimes placing her paw in your lap to ask for petting. Start petting her, and she may lean right into you for more! Curious and observant, Roxy likes checking out what's happening around her. She doesn't bark excessively, but she will alert you when something new appears around the house. She is free roaming and non-destructive in her foster home, keeping herself busy with toys and treats. She uses potty pads in the morning and evening and mostly goes outside during the day, following the other dogs through the doggy door. In a home without that setup, she will need regular outdoor potty breaks. Roxy sleeps peacefully in her crate overnight without barking or crying, but she would also love to cuddle beside you in bed at night. Roxy walks well on a leash without pulling, although she sometimes crosses from side to side. If people approach too closely, she may become frightened and try to run. She needs a secure yard, a securely fitted harness and leash when away from home, and a secure crate for car travel. She has not been around cats, so her compatibility with them is unknown. Roxy would love a patient home with a canine companion, plenty of toys, and someone who lets her build trust at her own pace.She takes a little time to warm up and does well with older children who are patient and respect her space. A home with young children may not be the best fit, as they may not yet understand when she needs a little room to feel comfortable. With time and understanding, her affectionate personality shines!
