About Mazzy

Adoption Fee: $20
Akita mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

I am looking to rehome my Akita mix, Mazzy. I am located in Moorpark, CA 93021. My phone number is below. My dog's name is Mazzy. She is 1 year and 8 months old. She is a spayed female. All vaccinations are current and up to date. She has not been trained. I do think she can benefit from training! She will sit for food and treats. It is undetermined whether she will stay or speak. She does walk well on a leash. Sometimes she gets excited and will pull a bit, but she does well on walks. She knows how to use a doggie door and often goes out into our backyard to run around and play. She does well in the car, too. We go for drives often. She loves driving to Starbucks with me and getting herself a pup cup. She currently lives with me and three smaller dogs (all pugs). We have decided that she needs to live in a home where she is the only pet. She doesn't get along great with the other animals. She has been with us for over a month, and we did slow introductions, hoping that would help; however, she doesn't get along with my youngest pug, Bingo. She has lunged at him several times, grabbed onto his ear once, and drew blood. I love Mazzy very much, and it pains me that I cannot keep her, but I can't have her in my home any longer, as she is a threat to Bingo. All the pugs in my house are about 3-4 years old. Two boys and one girl. Everyone in my household is an adult. I don't know how she is with children, but for their safety, I think it's best she lives in a home with no other pets and no small kids. She barks at strangers who come into our home, but after they let her sniff them and pet her, she calms down and is fine with them. She is not great with strangers on the street. She is sometimes afraid of other people, so I believe her acting out around them comes from fear. Once she becomes acclimated to other people, she is totally okay being around them. She did bite my brother Ryan in the leg the first day she was brought into our home. For context, he was leaving for work at 5 am, and it was pitch black. Once again, I think she was scared because she couldn't see. She hasn't bitten anyone since, and she also gets along great with Ryan now! She has no existing medical problems. I need to give Mazzy up because she is at risk of hurting my pug Bingo. I originally got Mazzy from a shelter in Ontario, CA. She was set to be euthanized, so I went to pick her up and save her from being put to sleep. Mazzy absolutely loves to play outside, play with stuffed toys, and chase her frisbee and tennis balls. She is an absolute sweetheart with my family. She loves cuddling with me and sleeping in my bed. I very much enjoy our cuddle time. I think her ideal home is one where she is the only pet, with no small children, and with a patient owner. She also seems to like women more than men, so I do think she would benefit from having a woman in the home as well! I know she may sound like a handful, but she's a wonderfully sweet dog, and I hope someone will take a chance on her! Thank you so much.
