About Lily

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

We are looking to re home our dog Lily. She is 6 years old. We are heartbroken about this, but she has an intense desire to protect our daughter that has resulted in nipping/herding behaviors with others that come into the home. Initially we could predict the situations and just crate her in those moments. She isn't aggressive (barking/growling/bearing her teeth, but she has nipped to stop people from behaviors that make her anxious...ie chasing our daughter). Due to her anxiety, and I believe our recent move to Virginia, this has become more unpredictable, and we don't feel like we are able to keep her. Recently, she has nipped (didn't break skin) a neighbor that doesn't understand Aussies. She would be excellent on a property with land and with someone who understands herding breeds. Lily hasn't nipped any of us that have lived in the home with her, including our teenage nephew. She is house and crate trained. Good on a leash. She doesn't chew and very rarely barks. She doesn't resource guard food. She is lovely with our cat, they play together regularly. She adores my daughter and followers her everywhere. Excellent in the car and on trips/camping/hiking. She is very obedient and been through obedience training. She was a rescue from a hoarding situation, and due to that is anxious. We have worked with her for 5 years to overcome much of that anxiety, but the birth of our daughter resulted in an intense desire to protect her. We are asking for a rehoming fee to be donated to Rescue Me.
