16-Month-Old Male German Shepherd - Birmingham, Alabama Area Handsome 16-month-old male German Shepherd, approximately 77 pounds, looking for the right home in the Birmingham, Alabama area. He is intelligent, affectionate, playful, and extremely people-oriented. He enjoys attention and tug/play, already knows sit and down, and clearly wants to engage with his person. He has shown no human aggression during his time with me and has previously lived around other dogs without reported problems. Despite spending most of his life outdoors, he has adapted surprisingly well to being inside in several important ways. He has not urinated or defecated inside the house, and he is beginning to learn household routines and expectations. What he does need is an owner prepared for a young, high-energy adolescent German Shepherd who has not had much formal structure or indoor experience. He gets excited easily and is still learning appropriate house manners. His current behaviors include jumping, pacing when overstimulated, rough play, chewing, counter-surfing, and difficulty settling for long periods. These are things that can improve substantially with consistency, training, maturity, and the right environment, but I want prospective owners to understand what they are taking on. He would be a great prospect for someone who enjoys training, activity, engagement, and developing a young dog, rather than someone looking for an already-finished, low-maintenance pet. He has previously been around other dogs without reported problems, although all new introductions should be handled appropriately. He has killed small wildlife outdoors, so I would not consider him proven safe with cats, rabbits, poultry, or other small animals. He has had limited crate experience and is still learning how to settle and relax indoors. He does best with clear boundaries and structure. He is microchipped and has a current rabies vaccination. His most recently documented NexGard Plus dose was August 28, 2026. Other vaccination status should be confirmed from his veterinary records. No known medical conditions or allergies have been noted. Veterinary records and available paperwork can accompany him. There is a $300 rehoming fee, but it is completely waivable for the right home. The fee is intended only to discourage impulsive inquiries and is not a condition of placement. Finding the right permanent home is far more important to me than collecting a fee. This is not first come, first served. I want his next placement to be the right one. If interested, please tell me a little about your experience with dogs, who lives in your household, any other animals you have, your fencing/living situation, typical work schedule, and what you are looking for in a dog.
