About Reagan

Adoption Fee: 50.00
Bloodhound
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Needs to be rehomed by November 7th due to family situation. Reagan is 9 years old and healthy, with no medical concerns. She does have some anxieties around having to go to the vet (ears, nails). We do give her a premed before going to the vet which helps. Nail cutting is a thing and to be on the safe side we have the vet do it under sedation. During regular Vet checks we use the pre-med and when the vet is ready to check her out, we put a soft muzzle on her to be safe. She had never bitten, but we never wanted her to experience that. She is scared of thunderstorms and fireworks; the bathtub is her safe place. Ironically, she does not like taking baths. She is good with other dogs although prefers smaller groups of dogs. She has successfully lived with 2 other dogs and 1 cat. She has experience going to dog parks, dog day care and boarding, and does well. If another dog mounts her, she will turn and bark at them. She doesn't snap or anything and the other dog usually listens and leaves her alone When at the dog park she will go up a greet random people She is good with adults and older children. She is exposed to toddlers and generally does well but she doesn't trust them(has growled at one of them when we were not watching). Never have done anything else to indicate danger to the little kids but we are typically always right there and tell Reagen to 'live it' when she goes in their space. She also knows these kids as they are our grandkids. I would feel more comfortable if she was not in a home with little kids. She will bark and at unknown people approaching the house(her territory). Other people walking by with dogs, she will also bark at them. If people she doesn't know come over, we put her in another room, behind a baby gate or outside. If they are people we want her to get to know we put her behind a baby gate so she, can she they are ok and 'one of us', We then slowly introduce her as he becomes more comfortable with them in our space. She really enjoys outside and our fenced in yard so that should be something her new placement should have. In the house she is overall good. During transition she should be provided a space that is hers and taken potty frequently. She could have anxiety and have accidents initially so the people should know that and be ok with being patient with her and showing her the routine. She will get into the garbage, she does counter surf, she will go through the laundry and kitty litter. I keep the garages, laundry, and kitty litter in spaces she cannot get into. She is independent, like her people, but doesn't care for snuggles. Generally, she is a great dog and does like attention and will approach you for pets but won't share the couch or bed with you. I hope I didn't focus too much on her quirks. She is a good dog. She would do best with a kind person that really understands hounds.
