��%90%BE Looking for a Loving New Home for a Sweet Senior Lab Mix ��%90%BE It breaks our hearts to have to make this decision, but we're looking for a loving, suitable home for my mom's 10-year-old Black Lab mix. He weighs approximately 110 lbs and is neutered. My mom has had him for the past 8 years and loves him dearly. Unfortunately, she is getting older and moving from a house with a yard in North Carolina to a senior apartment in Florida. Between the smaller living space and her difficulty safely managing his strength on walks, this move means she can no longer give him the living situation he needs. �%9D%A4��%8F A little about him: * ��%90 10-year-old Black Lab mix * �sЕ�%8F Approximately 110 lbs * ��� Neutered * ��%8F� Extremely well house-trained - in the 8 years my mom has had him, he has never once had an accident in the house! * ��%90� Gets along well off-leash with friendly dogs * ��%90� Gets along with cats * ��Ԭ�'�%8D��ԩ�'�%8D��Ԥ Friendly with people and children What kind of home would be best for him? He would do best with someone who has experience handling large, strong dogs and can safely manage him on a leash. He can become reactive when another dog acts aggressively or threatens him. In those situations, he may pull extremely hard in an attempt to get to the other dog to defend himself. He is very strong and has pulled my mom to the ground before, so she can no longer safely handle him when this happens. When he is comfortable and the other dog is friendly, he gets along well with dogs off-leash. We want to be upfront about this behavior so we can find someone who understands his needs and can keep both him and others safe. He can also be clumsy and very physical when playing. Because of his size, his enthusiastic playfulness can accidentally knock someone over, and he may jump up on people. For this reason, a home without young children or frail individuals would likely be the safest fit. ��%8F� His ideal home: Someone with experience with large dogs, the physical ability to manage him safely, and the patience and love to give a senior dog a comfortable home for his golden years. A securely fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus. This is not a decision my mom is making lightly.
