Banjo is an approximately 1 year old, 35-pound mixed-breed adolescent with an estimated birthday of October 2025. He is smart, affectionate, funny, athletic, and wonderfully goofy. Banjo was found wandering along a road in West Tennessee without identification or a microchip, and no owner was located. Banjo loves training, walks, sniffing, toys, outdoor adventures, and spending time with his people. He learns remarkably quickly and has been working on sit, down, wait, recall, automatic check-ins, find-it games, leash skills, relaxation, and household manners. He is house trained, crate trained, neutered, and up to date on his veterinary care and vaccinations. As a young adolescent, Banjo brings plenty of enthusiasm and is continuing to learn how to channel his energy and settle when the fun is over. His adolescent enthusiasm sometimes shows up as bouncy, playful mouthing, especially when he is tired, and he benefits from calm guidance and structured downtime. He does best with a thoughtful balance of exercise, sniffing, short training sessions, calm enrichment, and plenty of rest. When unfamiliar dogs bark at him-especially when he is on leash or the other dog is behind a fence-Banjo may bark back. He is making good progress learning to disengage and check in with his handler, and he responds well to distance, treats, and familiar training games. Before coming to us, Banjo stayed in a home with several dogs his size or larger. He may be able to live successfully with a carefully matched, similarly sized or larger, socially skilled dog with a compatible play style. He could also be very happy as an only dog. Because he is still learning to recognize when another dog has finished interacting, a home with a small senior dog would not be appropriate. Banjo would thrive with someone who enjoys active young dogs and reward-based training. He is an exceptionally sweet dog with tremendous personality and potential, and we are looking for a home that will treasure his affectionate nature, intelligence, athleticism, and delightfully goofy spirit.
