Clio is a 7yr old black lab who we took in from a neglectful owner who left her in small kennel almost the entire first year of her life. She is a sweet heart and a cuddle bug with people and has never shown any aggression towards humans, adults or children. Her problem lies with other animals, she is incredibly reactive and aggressive towards other cats and dogs. Through careful gradual integration we got her to live comfortably alongside our other dog (literally her best friend) and 2 cats. Until recently. Due to her aggression we cannot always take her on walks as much as she needs. One day when she was not allowed to go on a walk with our other dog she got upset and when our cat got too close she lunged at them. She immediately backed off, but the damage was done and out cat was seriously harmed. Due to this we have decided we can no longer handle having her in our home for fear it could happen again. Clio is not a bad girl, she listens well to commands and she is a big sweet heart. She just has big feelings that she struggles to control. I refuse to have her put down, I just want to find her a home where she can be loved so that I do not have to keep worrying about if she is going to hurt another of our other animals. It is possible to integrate her with other animals if you take the time to slowly introduce them. We have never had an incident of aggression between Clio and our other dog, an Australian shepherd. So if you have a dog already it helps if they have a more dominant personality as Clio will submit to that without much issue. Clio has had her first two years worth of shots but nothing since then. She loves to play outside and to snuggle in bed. Clio hates fences and other animals. And even more so hates animals on the other side of fences. She needs human affection, and space to run around.
