About Ruger

We are looking for a loving, experienced home for our sweet Ruger, a Catahoula who has so much personality and love to give. This is an incredibly difficult decision, and our biggest priority is finding him a home where he can truly thrive. Ruger is affectionate, loyal, smart, and loves being with his people. He is crate trained and does well with structure, routine, exercise, and someone who understands active, intelligent dogs. The ideal home for Ruger would be: ��%BD'� An adult-only home ��%BD'� A one-pet household, where he can be the only animal ��%BD'� Someone with dog experience, ideally with Catahoulas, working breeds, or similar high-energy dogs ��%BD'� A home where he will get plenty of attention, exercise, structure, and companionship Ruger has shown some resource-guarding behavior around other dogs, which is why we feel he would be happiest and most successful as the only pet in the home. He is crate trained, although he prefers not to spend long periods of time in his crate. We are not looking to simply give him away to the first person who responds. Finding the right fit is extremely important to us, and we would love to speak with anyone seriously interested and learn more about their home, lifestyle, and experience with dogs. We would ideally like to find someone in or around Rhode Island/New England bordering states so that the transition can be handled best. We would also potentially consider a Florida resident.
