GOOD DOG ALERT! Hey! My name is Jake. I'm a little over a year old, mixed breed boy. I probably have some hound in me but who knows what else. I'm about 40 lbs. I'm a happy go lucky kind of guy. I'm still mostly puppy, so I have a lot of energy and am still learning about how to be a good dog. I really want to be the best boy I can be. I love everyone! And I mean everyone! What I want most in life is all the love and attention I can get and to be with my person/people. I love to play, stuffed toys, bones & hooves to chew on, getting petted and riding in cars. I'm doing well on house training, but sometimes get over excited and forget. When I get my energy out, I'm happy to lay next to you on the couch with a toy while you read or watch TV, as long as you're petting me with one hand. I want to play with all the other dogs, so a playful doggy companion would be good for me. I love children, but can get over excited with little ones and could knock them over. I do have a bad habit of jumping up on people to get attention. It's just my affectionate nature and I'm trying to learn not to do that. When I am really happy and excited I dance with all 4 paws and body wiggles! You should see it! I would like to try some outdoor adventures to help me burn energy. I enjoy a fenced yard but would like to check out other places. I do know my name and will usually come when called. I'm usually not happy to go into my crate because it means being separated from my person, but I'll usually settle down and go to sleep. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, Va. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
