Her name is Promise. She came into a local shelter severely underweight, chewing her own tail, with a heavy chain and padlock around her neck. Did she break free? What kind of hell did she survive before getting there? We may never know. Then she found herself on death row. The day we took her into rescue, she stopped being a number. She became Promise because we made her one: no more chains, no more hunger, no more being used for babies, and no more wondering if she mattered. Today she was spayed. No more babies. That chapter is over. After we loaded her up, she covered the foster mom in kisses. Then on the ride home, she laid her head across her arm and just gazed into the fosters mom's eyes. You can see how thankful she is. You can see how incredibly soulful she is. She couldn't tell me what she's been through, and she couldn't say thank you with words. She didn't have to. Her face told us everything. Hopefully, one day, Promise will have a family of her own-a family who looks into those beautiful eyes and sees exactly what we see. This is what a second chance feels like. Promise is approx 2 yrs old 51 lbs, house trained, vaccinated and spayed. She likes to ride in the car and gets along well male dogs. No cats please. If you're interested in giving Promise another chance, please contact Julie at 919 624 0059. We are working on vetting and she will be ready for adoption soon.
