Mando is an approximately 2 year-old, 24-lb basset/heeler mix. He was found as a stray in New Mexico where no one came looking for him. He's sweet with humans and dogs, but he is also mouthy and still learning his manners. Because of his mouthiness, we recommend a home with no kids under age 12. We also think he would do best as an only dog or with an older doggy sibling who can set a good example for him. He has not been tested with cats, but we don't think he'd be a good fit with them. Mando has been showing great progress with his house training but he still has accidents when his humans don't notice his subtle cues that he needs to go or when he gets too excited to hold it. He has not been intentionally marking in his foster home. He is still figuring out leash-walking and sometimes stops walking altogether until he can be coaxed to continue. Since he doesn't yet potty on leashed walks, he requires a secure, fenced yard in his new home. Mando should also have someone home most of the time as he is still learning to distinguish shoes and furniture from his chew toys. When his people are home, he only chews on his dog toys and is responsive to appropriate redirection. He sleeps through the night either on his doggy bed or on the couch.%A0If you are interested in meeting Mando the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check and meet with everyone in the home. Mando is neutered, up to date on vaccines, chipped, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $425 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.
