About Clancy Clay

Redbone Coonhound mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

He is red as 'Red Clay' and Clancy means 'son of the red ready warrior' This stunning Red hound weighs 60 to 80 lbs He is almost 3 years old. Good Points First: Clancy is a very smart stunning redbone coon hound (mix?) Neutered, potty trained, does not mount at all. WITH HUMANS- no food aggression, Likes women, and men ( he was fine with a five year old girl at the doggy park) He didn't bounce on her, but he is strong and large. So he might jump on someone and accidentally hurt them because he can be clumsy. Does not escape the fence at all. He let me catch him twice when my hand slipped off his leash he ran but let me catch him. Could be crated if bonded dog is crated in same room near him. Gets in crate if the door is open, but does not lay down in it yet. Lays down on the bed with me, I have to encourage him up. lays down on couch next to the bed i am laying in. Lays on the cot next to the bed when relaxed. He catches on fairly quickly. Is learning to walk better on the leash is learning to (leave it) to squirrels or other animals passing by, off or on Leash. Clancy knows the commands sit. Lay down, and paw. Healhy strong Redbone coon hound ( mix ?) No known ticks fleas nor heartworm issues He is indoor half the day and outdoor half of the day. He loves the outdoors and loves having plenty of water. He is fed pedigree dog food dry Love's cheese when taking pill. Bad points- Can be wild ( not ferocious at all) and he is lonely. He Barks Loudly when upset. He has ADHD-in my non-medical opinion. Pulls leash, still working on that. trazodone is suggested per my vet. Benadryl given for helping us all sleep. Neuter and shot records are possibly still at Shelby Humane Columbiana Alabama He's been ownerless for over a year when his adopter from Shelby Humane died. His first owner was a 19 year old boy who went off to college? And his mother put him in the shelter. foster home, which has 2 other hounds and 3 cats. Her hounds don't accept CLANCY SO he has been isolated from pets and humans; hence, his separation anxiety. I am making progress with him. Because I take him to the dog park. I take him for walks, and I stay with him indoors. I can see his trust improving. I can see his worry ceasing a bit.
