About Skeeter

Adoption Fee: $400
Great Dane
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Skeeter 4 yr female Great Dane. Spayed and UTD on vet care, vaccines & preventatives. Seeking home as ONLY dog. While Skeeter has had no issues with living with other dogs in her foster home, there were some hiccups between her and the other dog in her previous home so out of an abundance of caution, we will be placing her as an only dog. Cats unknown. Kids 10+ yrs old. She has never lived with young children and isn't looking to start now. Certified counter surfer. Housebroken & crate trained. Located in Athens GA area. We adopt nationwide but require adopters to travel to the foster home to pick up their new furry family member. NO exceptions to the above requirements will be considered. Meet Skeeter, the Happiest Tail in Georgia! Skeeter's story took a turn for the better on Christmas Eve 2025, when she was pulled from the pound and given a second chance. She arrived heartworm positive, but this tough girl powered through her treatment like a champ and just received her negative test. Now she's healthy, happy, and ready for the best gift of all: a family to call her own! If there's one thing you need to know about Skeeter, it's this: she wags. Constantly. Enthusiastically. With her whole heart (and her whole back end). Talk to her? Wag. Pet her? Wag wag. Simply glance in her general direction? WAG WAG WAG. Fair warning, that tail doubles as a weapon! It packs a punch when it connects with your legs and has been known to clear a coffee table of small and medium-sized objects. Consider it free home d̩cor rearranging, courtesy of Skeeter. At 108 lbs, Skeeter is a big girl with an even bigger love for her people. She wants to be close to you, and by close, we mean as close as you'll let her be. She'll follow you from room to room, keep you company wherever you go, and happily snuggle up beside you on the couch. Personal space? Never heard of her. Skeeter is a certified couch potato who would love nothing more than a cozy spot next to her favorite human. That said, she walks nicely on leash and is happy to join you for a stroll before heading back for some well-earned lounging. She's housebroken, though she does prefer a little company for potty breaks. Escort her outside and she'll handle her business in record time before sprinting right back inside to be with you. She's also crate trained and will hop in on command. She doesn't always love it, but give her a little space and time and she'll settle right down. One important note: Skeeter has discovered that human food exists, and she is VERY interested in it. She will counter surf if left unsupervised, so her new family will need to keep counters clear and keep up the good work of NO human food at all. We don't want to encourage this habit! If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate shadow who will greet every moment of your day with a full-body wag, Skeeter is your girl. Just maybe move the breakables first. Skeeter is spayed & UTD on vet care, vaccines and preventatives. She is currently being fostered near Athens GA. We adopt NATIONWIDE but in most cases require adopters to travel to the foster home to pick up. Out of respect for our foster family's time and privacy, we do NOT arrange meet and greet without an approved application on file.
