Bruce was 'rescued' off Facebook in May 2026 at 8 mos. old. His original owner kenneled him for 16+ hours/day, so he was pretty wired when he arrived. We've done training with a professional trainer and he has really grown. Bruce is an indoor/outdoor dog. He prefers to be wherever his people are. He is potty trained. He walks well on a leash, but can be heightened on alert when encountering other walkers while on a leash. We typically manage by walking on the other side of the street when we encounter other walkers. He does really well at the dog park running in open spaces and he is never afraid of the other park patrons or aggressive with them - his behaviors seem to be related to being on the leash. Bruce is an extremely loving dog with people he trusts, I would call him a Velcro dog. He loves to have his belly scratched. He prefers women, but he warms up to men, so I would not say that he cannot be around men. Also, he is good with my older teenagers, but not good with younger children. Bruce LOVES to play with other dogs, so another playful canine sibling would be preferred. He loves the dogs at the dog park and dog daycare. He is smart as a whip, and loves training. He's good at solving puzzles. Bruce LOVES bananas and watermelon. The reasons Bruce has not been a good fit for our family: 1. He has an extremely strong prey drive. We have a cat. His original owner reassured me he liked cats, but this was not true. 2. He is very protective. He nipped someone he thought was going to hurt me. 3. He does not like the neighbors, so somewhere with open spaces would be better. We live in a suburban neighborhood. I truly love this dog and want him to find the best possible fit for him. He is the sweetest boy. If we could overcome the prey drive for the cat, I would find a way to make it work with our family, but, unfortunately, the cat deserves to be in a safe environment and that will not happen with Bruce in our home.
