Grunt is a 3 year old staffy. He weighs about 70 lbs with a blue coat, is current on all his vaccines and is neutered. We rescued him after his owner suffered two strokes in a single day, with a friend of his taking care of Grunt. She could not keep the dog, as she was about to move across the country, which is when he landed with us. He is a high energy dog but is also very loving and affectionate. He enjoys walks, playing tug of war, and rubbing his back on carpets. Grunt's favorite toys are bones and other similar chew toys, them being one of his favorite activities besides sleeping. Grunt needs an active home with an owner experienced with his breed, requiring daily walks and mental enrichment to properly tire him out. Grunt knows basic commands like 'Sit', 'Stay', with his release word being 'Okay'. Grunt will need some serious training and behavioral modification. We don't believe he was properly trained early in his life, as he has little in the way of manners when it comes to interacting with people. He still has a tendency to jump on people to greet them, and will begin barking if he wants attention or if you're eating in front of him. When he doesn't get what he wants, he begins to nip. He's not aggressive and has never bit someone full force, but with a dog his size even playful nips are dangerous. He will continue nipping regardless of any attempt to make him stop, yelling or trying to push him away only spurs him on further. We've tried all we can to correct this behavior, but we simply aren't home enough to give him the life he needs. Everyone in our house works for most of the day, leaving him alone for several hours every day. It is for this reason we are looking to rehome him, as it's not fair to him, nor us. As much as we love him, we admit that we're not the right fit for him and hope that whoever is reading this can give him the life he deserves.
