About Max: - Male, neutered, born 4/20/2020 (6 years old) - Rescued by us in November 2020 - Very loyal, gentle, and affectionate with every person in our home - Up-to-date vaccinations Why we're surrendering him: Max has had three incidents with our other dog, Chip, a 9-year-old goldendoodle: 1. Food guarding: Chip sniffed around Max's food bowl, and Max corrected him quickly and aggressively. Chip had a minor gash on his snout. 2. Off-leash play: At a park, Chip had a ball and Max was herding him, running alongside with his mouth open. Max accidentally put a hole in Chip's ear. 3. Today, both dogs were sniffing eggs left on the counter. I'm not sure who started it, but Chip ended up with more minor gashes on his snout. The main reason for the surrender is our family. We have a 15-month-old son and another baby on the way. Max has never shown any aggression toward our son and has been remarkably gentle with him. But these incidents all seem to stem from food guarding or intense outdoor play, and with small children in the house, we can't guarantee there will never be unattended food around. I'm worried he could accidentally injure one of the kids. Outside of these incidents, Max is a truly wonderful dog. I believe he would thrive in a home with no other pets, and possibly no young children. This is heartbreaking for us, and we want to make sure he goes somewhere he'll be loved. I'm happy to provide vet records, photos, videos, or any other information you need, and to answer any questions.
