About Maple

Maple is believed to be a 6-year-old, spayed female mixed breed (genetic testing showed primarily American Staffordshire Terrier) weighing approximately 40 lbs. She is currently up to date on her vaccines and medical care. Because I want to ensure the safety of everyone, including Maple, and give you an accurate picture of her needs, I want to be entirely transparent about her behavioral profile: Behavior/Reactivity: She is a reactive dog, primarily regarding guarding me. Her reactivity looks like barking and lunges excessively when she sees other dogs/people/males. She is highly fearful of strangers entering the home or people coming near me. However, she does live with one other dog currently, who she tolerates most of the time. Triggers: Her primary triggers include strangers, men/people in hats, other dogs, people approaching/touching me. Safety & Bite History: She has no history of biting or breaking skin on humans since I rescued her in 2021; however, she was in one dog fight in 2023. Handling: When she is in a calm environment, she is incredibly affectionate, crate-trained, and loves food puzzles. She also completed puppy training with petsmart as well as a few 1:1 in home trainings to support reactivity.
