4-year-old, 75-pound Dutch Shepherd mix seeking an experienced home or rescue placement She is a very affectionate, loyal and protective dog who bonds strongly with her people. She is my daughter's dog and is very good with my teenagers and the people she knows and trusts. She currently lives successfully with our two Great Pyrenees. She does need time to get comfortable with new people and should not be approached or handled by strangers until she has been properly introduced. When she is with someone she considers her person, she can become protective and may growl, lunge or nip toward an unfamiliar person who approaches. She has never bitten anyone. She has significant separation anxiety and wants to stay close to her person. Confinement is particularly difficult for her. She will growl when being put into a crate and has previously escaped from a metal wire crate. She also has some food guarding and may growl if someone approaches her while she is eating, but she does not guard toys, furniture or other possessions. She is spayed and weighs approximately 75 pounds. Her rabies vaccination is up to date and expires December 2026. We are looking for an experienced adopter or rescue that understands anxious/protective working breeds and can give her the structure, patience and gradual introductions she needs. We are not looking to simply give her away-we want to find a safe, appropriate long-term home where she can succeed.
