She is a 7-month-old Catahoula mix, approximately 40-50 pounds. I adopted her from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control when she was about a month old. She is an incredibly smart, energetic girl with a lot of personality. She does well with other dogs, but she plays very rough and can be mouthy, so she needs continued training and boundaries. She is also good with my 8-year-old son, but because she is still young and mouthy, she needs someone who can consistently work with her on appropriate play and manners. She is mostly potty trained and only has occasional accidents, especially if she is left alone for a few hours. She is not crate trained and has severe separation anxiety. Interestingly, she does much better when she is left out in the main living area rather than confined. She has only been mildly destructive a few times, such as chewing up a Scrub Daddy, and has not been someone who tears up blankets, pillows, or furniture. She gets extremely excited when guests come over and still needs training with jumping, impulse control, and calming down. She is very intelligent and learns quickly, but she needs an experienced owner who has the time and consistency to train her properly. I've realized that I am not able to give her the amount of training, structure, exercise, and attention she needs. Her mouthiness with my older dog and my son has become too much for me to manage, and I want to make the responsible choice before it becomes a bigger issue. I truly believe she would thrive with someone who understands Catahoulas or other high-energy working breeds, has experience with training, and can give her the structure she needs. I am only looking for a safe, loving, permanent home for her. I am asking a small rehoming fee to help ensure she goes to someone who is serious about giving her a good home.
