About Nelson

Nelson Needs a Foster or Adopter to Secure His Ride to Wisconsin Nelson is part of an owner-surrender/hoarding situation in Mississippi where his owner currently has approximately 40 Pomeranian/Chihuahua mixes and can no longer care for them. Nelson has spent his entire life in this overcrowded home and has never experienced life outside of that environment. He is scheduled to travel to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, 10/10 and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to make the trip. Meet Nelson Nelson is a tiny, sweet boy who is ready for a fresh start and the chance to discover what life is like in a loving home. At just 9 months old, he has spent his entire life in an overcrowded environment with many other dogs and will have a lot of new experiences ahead of him. Nelson will likely be shy and unsure when he first arrives. Everything about life in Wisconsin, from being in a home to meeting new people and experiencing the outside world, may be completely new to him. He will need a patient family who is willing to give him time to feel safe, build confidence, and warm up. His new family should be prepared for an adjustment period and understand that Nelson may not immediately come out of his shell. He will need reassurance, patience, and plenty of time to learn that he is safe. With consistency and love, we hope to see this little guy gain confidence and discover his sweet personality. Nelson will also need help learning the basics of being a house dog. Potty training, crate training, and leash walking are unknown, so his foster or adopter should be prepared to patiently teach him these skills. He has lived with many other dogs and may benefit from having a friendly, confident dog around as he adjusts to his new life. Nelson is looking for someone who understands that earning his trust may take time. He may be nervous at first, but he deserves the opportunity to learn what it feels like to be loved, safe, and part of a family.
