About Moose

Moose is an incredibly loving, sweet dog who absolutely loves his people. He can be timid and a little shy when he first meets someone, but once he feels comfortable, he is affectionate and loves attention. He is a very high energy, pure bread German shepherd who is 3 years old. He loves to run, explore, and he does love to be vocal. He needs a home that has the time, space, and ability to give him more exercise and structure than we are currently able to provide. In our current situation, he just isn't remaining secure in our back yard. He needs a place with a large secure area to run and play. We unfortunately found that he doesn't do well with livestock, because he had a recent run in with the neighbors pig. And he probably won't do well with cats. However, when introduced properly, he does ok with other dogs that are around the same size as him. This is not a decision we thought we would ever have to make. It is going to be heartbreaking to find a new home for him. He is a wonderful, loving dog, but I have come to recognize that our home isnt the right environment for his energy level and needs. I am desperately hoping to find someone who understands high-energy dogs and is willing to give him the structure, exercise, secure space, and patience he needs. He is very trainable and yearns for that, but again, with current health challenges and home environment, we haven't had the ability to provide for his needs. I want to do everything I reasonably can to find him a suitable home, and truly it needs to be very quick. I want be very selective about where he goes. I would much rather have an honest conversation about whether he is a good fit than place him somewhere that isn't equipped for him.
