Rico has spent his entire life in this overcrowded home and has never experienced life outside of that environment. He is scheduled to travel to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, 10/10 and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to make the trip. Meet Rico Rico is a sweet little guy who is ready for a fresh start and the chance to discover what life is like in a loving home. After spending his entire life in an overcrowded environment with many other dogs, Rico will have a lot of new experiences ahead of him. Like many of the dogs coming from this situation, Rico may be shy and unsure when he first arrives. He will likely need some time to feel safe, build confidence, and warm up to his new people. His new family should be prepared to let him settle in at his own pace rather than expecting him to immediately be comfortable in a new environment. Rico will also need help learning the basics of being a house dog. Potty training, crate training, and leash walking are unknown, so his foster or adopter should be patient and willing to teach him these skills. He has lived with many other dogs and may benefit from having a friendly, confident dog around as he learns to navigate his new life. Rico is looking for someone who understands that his first few days or weeks may be an adjustment. He may need extra patience, reassurance, and plenty of time to come out of his shell. Once he realizes that he is safe and loved, we hope to see this little guy begin to gain confidence and enjoy all the things he has been missing. Apply: Fill out adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.)Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.)Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: after approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5 day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option.
