Minnie has made the long journey from Mississippi to Wisconsin with Mutt Life Dog Rescue and is settling into her foster home. This sweet little girl has a whole new world to discover, and she deserves a patient, loving family who will help her feel safe and learn what it means to have a home of her own. Meet Minnie Minnie is part of an owner-surrender/hoarding situation in Mississippi, where her owner had approximately 40 Pomeranian/Chihuahua mixes and could no longer care for them. She spent her life in an overcrowded home with many other dogs and has had very limited experience with the outside world. At just 1 year old and 10 pounds, Minnie is a petite girl who will need time and understanding as she adjusts to her new life. She is very shy and may be nervous around unfamiliar people, sounds, and experiences. She may take a while to feel comfortable and show her personality, so her new family will need to let her come out of her shell at her own pace without pressure. With patience, consistency, and gentle reassurance, Minnie can begin building confidence and learning that she is finally safe. She has so much to discover, from the comforts of a cozy home to the joy of having people who care about her. Minnie will also need help learning the basics of being a house dog. Her potty training, crate training, and leash manners are unknown, so her foster or adopter should be prepared to work with her patiently. Since she has spent her life around other dogs, having a friendly, confident canine companion may help her feel more comfortable as she adjusts. Minnie is looking for a special person who understands that earning her trust may take time. She may not be the dog who runs up to greet you right away, but watching her gain confidence and begin to trust will make every little step forward meaningful.
