Minnie Needs a Foster or Adopter to Secure Her Ride to Wisconsin Minnie is part of an owner-surrender/hoarding situation in Mississippi where her owner currently has approximately 40 Pomeranian/Chihuahua mixes and can no longer care for them. Minnie has spent her life in this overcrowded home and has never experienced life outside of that environment. She is scheduled to travel to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, 10/10 and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to make the trip. Meet Minnie Minnie is a sweet little girl who is ready for a fresh start and the chance to discover what life is like in a loving home. At just 1 year old, she has spent her life in an overcrowded environment with many other dogs and will have a lot of new experiences ahead of her. Minnie is very shy and will likely be nervous and unsure when she first arrives. After spending her entire life in an overcrowded environment, the sights, sounds, people, and routines of a new home may be overwhelming for her. She will need a patient and understanding family who is willing to give her plenty of time to feel safe and comfortable. Minnie may take some time to warm up and may not immediately show her personality. Her new family should be prepared to let her come out of her shell at her own pace, without pressure. With patience, consistency, and reassurance, we hope to see her slowly gain confidence and learn that she is finally safe. Minnie will also need help adjusting to the basics of being a house dog. Potty training, crate training, and leash walking are unknown, so her foster or adopter should be prepared to patiently teach her these skills. She has lived with many other dogs and may benefit from having a friendly, confident dog around as she adjusts to her new life. Minnie is looking for someone who understands that earning her trust will take time. She may be very nervous at first, but she deserves the opportunity to experience a safe home, loving people, and all the wonderful things she has been missing. Apply: Fill out adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.)Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.)Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: after approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5 day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option.
