Goatie Needs a Foster or Adopter to Secure His Ride to Wisconsin Goatie is part of an owner-surrender/hoarding situation in Mississippi where his owner currently has approximately 40 Pomeranian/Chihuahua mixes and can no longer care for them. Goatie has spent his entire life in this overcrowded home and has never experienced life outside of that environment. He is scheduled to travel to Cedarburg, WI with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on Saturday, 10/10 and needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER to make the trip. Meet Goatie Goatie is a sweet little guy who is ready for a fresh start and the chance to learn what life is like in a loving home. Because he has spent his entire life in an overcrowded environment with very little exposure to the outside world, Goatie will likely be very shy and afraid when he first arrives. Goatie will need a patient and understanding family who is willing to give him the time he needs to feel safe and comfortable. He may take some time to warm up, and his new family should not expect him to immediately come out of his shell. With patience, consistency, and a calm environment, we hope to see his confidence grow as he learns that he is finally safe. He will also need help adjusting to the routines and expectations of life in a home. Potty training, crate training, and leash walking are unknown, and he will likely need someone willing to patiently teach him these skills. He has lived with many other dogs, so having a confident, friendly dog in his new home may help him feel more comfortable as he adjusts. Goatie is looking for someone who understands that earning his trust will take time. He may not be the dog who runs up to greet you on day one, but with patience and love, he has the opportunity to become a wonderful little companion. Apply: Fill out adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents. 2.)Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 3.)Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: after approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5 day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option.
