Meet Viola !! |%8F|%8FPlease read the entire post!!! She's small and adorable but she's absolutely NOT A LAP DOG and needs a very active home. |%8F|%8F This sweet little lady came to us after she was purchased by a family that was unaware of what they were getting. The family was looking for a calm small dog and this girl is the opposite. She upset the senior dogs in the home due to her crazy antics, and the family brought her to us so we could find a home looking for a dog with her energy. Viola is a female. She is approx 1 year old. She weighs 8.3 pounds and should be full grown. We do not know exactly what she is. She was supposed to be Shih Tzu and Poodle. She has Schnauzer colors and energy but her body build doesn't match that. Probably a lot of things mixed in there. She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is Heartworm negative and on preventatives. Viola is a whole lot of dog in a small package. She is a social and happy girl. She loves everyone. She's very outgoing and down for any adventure. She is a busy girl that always wants something to do. She is working on her house manners. She is crate trained but will whine at times when she wants out. It's best to tire her out first and then put her in and cover the crate. She is familiar with the leash but pulls due to excitement and needs some work with that. She is great on car rides but needs to be tethered or crated so she is not all over you. She is doing fairly well with potty training. She does not go in her crate. She has only had a few accidents so far when her foster mom didn't realize she needed to go out. She figured out the doggie door quickly and has not had any accidents since. Viola does very well with other dogs. She loves to play and can be very active. Her current playmate is a 65 pound Doberman puppy that she has no issues keeping up with. She is a dog that is right up in the face of other dogs so tolerant playful dogs would be best. She would really love another high energy dog in the home to run with. She's not fostered with cats here but she would likely be too much playful energy for cats. If you have a very dog tolerant cat then it might work. We have not her around kids so far. We don't think she would be aggressive to kids at all but she is very mouthy when she plays. She is also one that jumps all over people. Those two things can be unpleasant for smaller kids. Time and training should help but super tiny humans may not enjoy her. She does have a very high energy level and needs a place to run and play several times a day along with mental stimulation such as sniff walks, games, play, training etc. The only time she will really cuddle or sit with you is when she's tired. She is not at all a 'lap dog'. She is on the go a lot and does a lot of moving around. She is busy with a lot of energy at times and likely will be lifelong. If you're not prepared for a constantly energetic girl then she's not the one for you. She definitely needs a fenced yard to run in. Viola is small and follows you everywhere. She may bolt out a door or gate if given the opportunity. If both the adults and kids in the home can not manage proper door control please do not adopt her. You can use gates or crate her prior to opening doors etc. Please don't adopt her unless you truly can provide the right type of home for her. She doesn't need to be bounced around from home to home. If you want a calm easy-going lap dog, then please find one. Viola is not those things at all. We have not seen any trouble sharing food, treats or toys with people or other dogs. She loves running, chasing, playing with toys, Fetch, really anything fun. She would likely love a family that goes on adventures or does agility or similar activities. Anything fun that keeps her body and mind busy would be great for her. Viola is a sweet, loving and fun dog. She has so much potential in the right home. If you can meet her needs, you'll have a fun, loving, and loyal companion. She will need regular grooming. This requires time to get her to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks. This should be fully considered prior to applying to adopt her. Vet and home checks required. Fenced yard required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) '%BC%8FPlease message [email protected] directly with questions or to get an application.
